So I loves me the Talion Charter and here's gonna be my initial list:
Mutiny on the Talion (500/500)
Captain Phinneus Shae
- Buccaneer
6 Press Gangers
6 Sea Dogs
- Mr. Walls
- Sea Dog Rifleman
Sea Dog Deck Gun Crew
Lady Aiyana & Master Holt
The Commodore Cannon
First Mate Hawk
Lord Joln Rockbottom
Bosun Grogspar
Doc Killingsworth
Bloody Bradigan
Apart from Bradigan, everybody in this list were members of the Exeter when they mutinied. The goal here is Infantrymachine, though with some fun interconnections.
This is by no means all of the evil I can do, but here are some highlights...
The Sea Dogs by themselves are +2 MAT when fighting, and with Walls the enemy is at -2 MAT against the unit. By sacrificing the Gang rule, the Sea Dogs can double their strength in melee and get an extra attack when Hawk's within 8", and Bradigan gains an additional die to attack and damage when in melee with a unit where Sea Dog infantry are also engaged. Now add Tough from Rockbottom, increase the Tough Roll to 4+ with Killingsworth, and make them immune to knockdown with Grogspar... ((Notice I haven't even started to explain how Shae fits into this puzzle?))
Then there's the Press Gangers. They are Sea Dogs (thus can get all the benefits of the synergies,) are automatically Tough, plus every model they "kill" are removed and another Swab gets added to the Sea Dog unit...
The Commodore adds potent firepower to Shae's melee punch. The fact that its basic shot is RNG 20 with a d6" slam and a POW 16 can't be overstated, and up close its a beast and a half. Add the Deck Gun to play "point defense" and for those extra few kills and its a firebase you just don't want to touch. ((Still no mention of Shae???))
With Aiyana and Holt you have your anti-magic and anti-solo bases covered. Pending good dice rolls, Holt can easily neutralize most competition, and usually guarentee nobody hurts Aiyana so she can cause added damage to the subject of a Sea Dog's ire...
So then there's Shae. On his feat turn he can charge 14". He can split up your infantry units and attack them all at once... That's all you get off my caster... heh.
To bring me up to 750, I'll just add Meg and McNaile, another Sea Dog Deck Gun, a Freebooter and a Nomad. At 1000 I'd add in Broadsides Bart and 2 Mariners!
